This song has become a sort of anthem. Pretty passive anthem, don't you think? Not much of a protest song. I think I'll keep waiting...
Until the real thing comes along.

Computing capabilities doubles every 18 months. So it is matter of time before AI. And problems such as Global Warming will have strategies developed from Artificial Intelligence. Hopefully AI won't include the elimination of mankind as the ultimate solution to save the planet. LOL
Smiles... waiting… yep… resisting until my last breath the radical right and left.
That's the very thing about this song that concerns me...not much sign of hope...except for the lines that say "one day our generation is gonna rule the population". And what then? Mayer doesn't say. He's waiting.
When I first heard this tune, I almost immediately thought of another one...from the 80s I think...by Jimmie & Stevie Ray Vaughan, called Tick Tock. The refrain goes:
Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock, people
Time's tickin' away.
A more idealistic song. But also a better one, to my way of thinking.
AI? You're quoting the back story of the Matrix trilogy. If you've never checked that out, you should some time. It's part of the extra features in the boxed edition. They put a lot of thought and work into that.
