And Speaking of Two Dollar Bills...

Some trivia about Canadian money:

Back when the band first started going to Winnipeg every September, two dollar bills were still in existence. But not in Winnipeg. They were as rare as US two dollar bills. None of the stores in Winnipeg used them. And whenever we produced one (from Ontario) we got funny looks. It was only some time later we learned that the bills had a bad rep in Manitoba. And why? Because they represented the price of a prostitute (way back when, obviously...) So the only people who had them were prostitutes or those lookin' for em.

(BTW, Larry actually has a US two dollar bill...He keeps it in a safe place...Vol. 1 of Karl Marx's Das Kapital.)

Awright! That's what I like to see! Controversy!

You two shall meet on the corner of Portage and Main to have it out. (Actually, UNDER the corner of Portage and Main since you can't really get to the street anymore...) First one to find a two-dollar bill wins!

Larry, where did you say you keep Karl Marx's "Das Kapital?"

On the bookshelf, of course, right next to the other bible.

Hey, Larry, you're just too eager to see a cat fight! That's not very Buddhist of ya!

Me, I thought it was pretty funny... as for those two dollar bills, they were pretty funny too. I don't think a toonie would get you much out there on the street. Except an extra large Tim Horton's coffee.

There's another thing! When we first started going to Winnipeg, there was only one Tim Horton's in the whole town. Downtown. The chain there was Robin's Donuts, emanating, I think, from Thunder Bay. You may remember Robin's Donuts in this area around Lunchbucket. There were five or six around...all gone now, beaten into submission by the corporate behemoth. But their donut and suchlike offerings were far better than Timmy's. They had something called a Breakfast Biscuit...with cheese and ham and green onions...that was to die for. I really miss them. Never gonna forgive Timmy. Even the last Robin's that I knew of in Windsor is gone...

I'm trying to remember if I've ever seen one. And I don't think so. The first donought (that's how it was spelled) shop I know of was Country Donoughts. That was in London, Ont. Their donoughts and coffee were splendid. The first Timmy I frequented was on Highland road, accross the street from where the new one is. It was a full of smoke one. And it was chummy. Everyone seemed to know each other. I don't miss the smoke, but I do miss that athmosphere.

Help! I've written and I can't get up!
