My friend Peter Z. wants to know: Did the Pope see his shadow this morning?
(Apparently he popped his head out the window today and waved at the people...)

Larry, don't you feel bad now that the Pope is dead for the "see his shadow" comment? Okay, okay, I'll leave you alone on that one, but I think maybe that particular moment at the window was the moment when the Pope submitted to death - when he tried to speak and couldn't. Such disappontment in his gesture...
No, I don't feel bad about the "seeing his shadow" comment, cuz I didn't make it. Pieter Z. made it. I'm just doing the objective reportage thing. No judgment here, eh?
Besides, it turns out that there is an answer to that seemingly silly, irreverent question. If you are right, DoveTaler, and I think you are, (I had exactly the same feeling about that gesture, and, yes, a moment of empathy) then it was at that moment that the Pope saw his shadow, and that shadow looked like the angel of death.
