I don't know why, but somehow I thought this would never happen. I'll be surprised now if the World Bank can ever establish itself as an institution for the "world", rather than an instrument of policy for the West, and particularly the US.

The first part of the decade has seen the rise of bullies and tyrants.
This is an opportunity of responding to the challenge of dealing with impossible people in positions of power.
They are the current flavour that will soon lose favour.
Tyrants have no sense of humour. They are bloated by self-importance and can’t understand the joke they have become.
So how do you like Bolton's chances? Every time I think of Bolton’s nomination to the UN, I laugh so hard that I have difficulty catching my breath.
To tell you the truth, I haven't paid much attention to the Bolton nomination. My attention span is only so wide, you know? And then there's that other guy, forget his name, was he nominated for Supreme Court? The one who attempted to parse the definition of torture...
Somewhere, maybe in Camus' laundry basket, we have to find room for the absurdity of it all.
